Live Design on the Design of Morgan Wallen's I'm The Problem Tour

"The goal was always for the technology to disappear into the experience." Cort Lawrence, Live Design

Ellen Lampert-Gréaux interviewed Cort Lawrence for Live Design in December 2025 about I'm The Problem, the Morgan Wallen stadium run that played June through September 2025. Lawrence framed it as an evolution rather than a replacement. The 270 degree wraparound LED header and the open sculptural stage stayed. The lighting, scenic direction and color story moved to match a more personal record.

The interview is unusually specific about constraint. Adding scenic weight to a stadium rig hanging under temporary roofs meant every new piece had to be argued for on rigging load, including the Baja 1000 motorcycle headlight, which was rebuilt from an older set piece rather than fabricated new. Lawrence credits Chad Guy's touring operation for load-ins fast enough that the show became known for them, and names TAIT, Nighthawk, Clear All Visuals, Christie Lites, FFP, StrictlyFX, G2 Structures and PixMob as partners on it.
